The Morning Call

This is what started the saga with the Morning Call.
Not the Morning Call to prayer, the most important in Islam,
but the Morning Call Newspaper, near Bethlehem.
They requested guest columns from their readers you see,
so I thought they wanted to hear from me,
and this is what I sent.
I HOPE you know I did it with peace in my heart, and there was no ill intent.
I didn't seek any CHANGE from them, only that they publish my words.

During this saga of ours I'll let you know I had my words published in other newspapers.
The Standard-Speaker does it often for me,
while the Times-Leader & Citizens Voice have both done it once.
In my mind that makes a trinity and that in reality is the truth.
You can call me Dan the Man or Mr. Jesus 2.3
for in reality I receive mail as each one of these,
but I'm not "THE GOD of ABRAHAM"
somebody else is confused on that point.
I am also virtually jesus christ, in this reality.
Therefore if you're lookin' for a trinity I'm your man,
but know that I'm not your GOD.
I'm a Muslim Master Mind I'll let you know,
does that mess with your mind? Sorry but i didn't mean too.
I'm only tellin' the truth about myself & our common reality.

I hope that this meets your criteria for Guest Column. I believe that the topics are timely, and know that the piece has fewer than 700 words. If you can't publish my letter, please tell me what i need to change. Then, we may hopefully piece together a column that will nourish your readers minds.

Guest Column:
As with Jonathan Gerard, I must agree that most people misunderstand the significance of Truman’s firing of General Douglas MacArthur. General Stanley McChrystal has just been fired by President Obama for much the same reason.
I’m no General, but I am a McFarling,
and just as those other mac’s, I attended West Point;
I’m no President, but I am a resident of these United States;
And I’m no Rabbi, but have been ordained a priest
(I’ll let you decide if I’m a saint, or a sinner).
It is my hope that you will understand,
The only thing that changes - is what you hope for.
Jonathan Gerard hopes for no victory in Afghanistan, I simply hope that our troops make it home safely, and that is victory enough for me.  Jonathan is worried about our economy, and the reasons we try to make it grow. I don’t worry about those things, I leave them up to God’s Will.  What I do in this life, I do of my own free will. Since nothing is free in this world, I choose to live responsibly. This has served me well.
While I cannot predict the future, my reality is such that if I stay true to my behavior all will turn out well.  And this is as it should be.
Jonathan has heard of the riches in Afghanistan, and has hinted of some sort of conspiracy with corporate leaders. It’s as if these leaders where chosen ahead of time, to reap some sort of treasure. Where would the Rabbi get this idea? I don’t believe any of us are chosen. The truth is – we do our own choosing, of our own free will. We can never be sure as to what is going to happen next, but it is possible to make an educated guess.
While Jonathan is not saying the “terrorists are not our enemy”, I will say that they are not the enemy.  If they try to attack me, then indeed they are my enemy, but the truth to the reality – is that they haven’t attacked me.
There is a greater enemy at hand though, and Jonathan knows just what that enemy is.  He says as much when he claims that, “framing our national effort against them as a ‘war’ serves a certain economic purpose”. He then mentions other arbitrary ‘wars’ – poverty, drugs, illegal immigration, and the poisoning of the Gulf of Mexico.
In this, the Rabbi and me are in complete agreement. For it is our love of money that the Rabbi is talking about.
I’m just a jack of all trades working with the Sharp people, near Bethlehem. The Sharp people I work with are the ones just tryin’ to survive. There are other people in this world who seem to think it’s all about getting ahead. Keep this thought in the back of your mind though – if you are one of those who think you’ve been chosen to get ahead, remember, that by necessity, you’re leaving something behind.
Of course, in reality, none of this matters much to me. I just try to stay the course, and tell the truth. I’ll leave the rest up to God’s Will.  What will you do next?
